Founded by Jane Burke, Modern Herbalist Co. is dedicated to providing evidence-based healthcare solutions tailored to support your unique health journey. Jane is the principal practitioner and a passionate, experienced clinical herbalist with extensive training in Western Herbal Medicine.

Her qualifications include:

  • Master of Naturopathic Medicine - current  2025– Southern Cross University at the Naturopathic Centre, Lismore, NSW
  • Bachelor of Health Science (Western Herbal Medicine) – Torrens University, Melbourne
  • Advanced Diploma in Western Herbal Medicine – Australian Institute of Applied Science, QLD
  • Diploma of Remedial Massage – Australian Institute of Applied Science, QLD
  • Diploma of Aromatherapy – Australian Institute of Applied Science, QLD
  • Cert IV Remedial Massage- South Australian Health Education Centre, SA

Clinical Herbal Medicine Services We Offer

  • Personalised Herbal Consultations: Personalised herbal medicine prescriptions, nutraceuticals, lifestyle medicine and nutritional assessments

Initial Consultation – 1.5 hours | $120
Your first consultation includes:

  • Blood pressure, respiration rate, and pulse monitoring
  • Physical exams (if needed): abdominal, thyroid, and lymph checks (head & neck)
  • Naturopathic assessments: tongue and nail analysis, constitution, anaemia (capillary refill, conjunctiva, palmar creases), pulse 
  • Comprehensive health history review
  • Diet and lifestyle evaluation
  • Pathology testing (if required) 
  • Individualised herbal medicine prescription (additional cost)

Follow-Up Consultations – 45 minutes | $90

  • Ongoing refinement of your personalised health plan 
  • Blood pressure, respiration rate, and pulse monitoring
  • Physical exams (if needed): abdominal, thyroid, and lymph checks (head & neck)
  • Naturopathic assessments: tongue and nail analysis, constitution, anaemia  (capillary refill, conjunctiva, palmar creases), pulse
  • Discuss pathology results for optimal range
  • Keep your Herbal Medicine Prescription relevant and make changes according to your current presentation and needs
  • Map out your short and long-term goals linking to your Herbal Prescription to help you become autonomous in your health decisions 

Manual Therapies

We specialise in remedial massage treatments for pain relief and improved mobility, addressing conditions such as piriformis syndrome, sciatica, back and shoulder pain, plantar fasciitis, headaches, migraines, and depression. Our treatments incorporate medicated carrier oils and custom essential oil blends, handcrafted in-house, to support physical and mental well-being.

Remedial Massage – 1 hour | $90

Remedial Massage + Infrared Light Therapy – 1 hour 20 minutes | $120

Visit our walk-in Herbal Dispensary to:

  • Discuss acute herbal medicine strategies
  • Pick up prescriptions
  • Shop handmade teas, tonics, essential oils, balms, and skin care products

We offer free acute Western herbal medicine consultations at our public dispensary for issues like colds, coughs, digestive problems, or stress. In this brief session, we'll create a client file, record medical conditions and medications, and provide a herbal extract or practitioner-only supplement. We recommend booking a full Initial Consultation for a detailed assessment and tailored treatment plan for more complex concerns.
