Modern Herbalist Co. is a natural health clinic based in Port Elliot, South Australia. We offer evidence-based Western Herbal Medicine, remedial massage, infrared light therapy, and lymphatic massage. Our approach is holistic and client-centred, focused on identifying and addressing the underlying drivers of chronic and complex health conditions, not just managing symptoms.

We support clients across a wide range of concerns, including autoimmune disease, hormonal imbalance, digestive dysfunction, recurrent infections, and mood disorders. Whether you're experiencing chronic fatigue, anxiety, immune dysregulation, or gut issues, we take the time to understand your health story and provide care that’s tailored, thorough, and supportive.

Founded by Jane Burke, a Health Science degree-qualified Clinical Herbalist and Remedial Therapist, Modern Herbalist Co. integrates traditional herbal knowledge with clinical research and naturopathic diagnostics. With over 15 years in the health industry, Jane’s practice blends herbal medicine, therapeutic massage, lifestyle support, and functional assessment to address complex health presentations.

Jane has a special interest in mental health and neuroimmunology, gut-brain communication, oncology support, autoimmune conditions, recurrent infections and childhood immunity and development.

Jane is currently completing a Graduate Certificate in Mental Health and Neuroscience at the University of the Sunshine Coast. She has also undertaken advanced training through the MAPS Medical Academy for Paediatric Special Needs (MAPS 2025 Practitioner Program) to provide integrative care for children’s health, immune regulation, and neurological development.

She is committed to providing evidence-based, personalised care that supports long-term health and empowers her clients to understand their bodies better.

Clinical Herbal Medicine Consultations
Comprehensive health assessments, custom herbal prescriptions, nutritional guidance, and integrative support tailored to each client.

Remedial Massage Therapy
Targeted manual therapy for pain, inflammation, and stress. Jane specialises in conditions such as sciatica, frozen shoulder, piriformis syndrome, tension headaches, and anxiety. Medicated oils and in-house essential oil blends are used in each treatment.

Infrared Light Therapy
Infrared light therapy works on a cellular level to support mitochondrial function, enhance energy production (ATP), reduce inflammation, and promote tissue repair. Mitochondrial health is essential for optimal recovery, immune regulation, and resilience, especially in chronic fatigue, post-viral illness, and inflammatory conditions. This therapy is often used alongside remedial massage for amplified healing outcomes.

Lymphatic Massage (with Karen from The Lymph Clinic)
Gentle, specialised therapy that supports lymph flow, detoxification, immune function, and post-surgical recovery. Karen operates independently within our clinic space and brings her expertise in managing fluid retention, inflammation, and lymphatic congestion.

Home to the largest herbal dispensary on the South Coast, we compound personalised liquid herbal medicines and stock high-quality practitioner-only supplements. We also fulfil scripts for external practitioners.

Initial Consultation

A thorough initial health assessment to explore your case history, current concerns, and goals. Includes:

• Vital signs (BP, pulse, respiratory rate)
• Physical exams as needed (abdominal, thyroid, lymph)
• Naturopathic assessment (tongue, nails, constitution, anaemia indicators)
• Comprehensive health, diet and lifestyle review
• Pathology testing recommendations (if indicated)

Follow-Up Consultation
45 minutes | $90
Refines your treatment plan and adjusts formulas based on progress and updated assessments.

• Short- and long-term goal setting to support autonomy in your health journey

Remedial Massage + Infrared Therapy
